Located 30 Km from downtown, between the beaches of Pantano do Sul and Solidão, Açores neighborhood is the best planned in the south of the island.

The access is done by a big asphalt road, and you can almost park your car on the beach. It has a very good infrastructure. The ocean has blue, cold waters, with median size waves.

The place is very calm and people live in touch with nature and you can find trails nearby in the preserved rain forest. The beach has clear sand and from there, you can see the islands of Três Irmãs and Moleques do Sul.

Praia da Armação, Armação - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

Armação beach borders on Ponta da Companha and the South of Morro das Pedras point. It has white, fine sand and cold and clear waters.

In the south part of the beach the waves are calm and to the north, they are rough and favorable for surfing. This beach hosted the Companhia de Pesca da Baleia da Armação do Pântano do Sul (a Whale Fishing Company) in the XVIII century. The capture and exploitation of the whales lasted up to 1910. Currently, Armação Beach is one of the most sought after places of the Island, providing good touristic infrastructure.

Praia da Barra da Lagoa, Barra da Lagoa - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

Being of traditional community, its folklore is rich and its main event, Festa da Tainha, happens every year in July.

Barra da Lagoa beach belongs to Barra da Lagoa District, which is located on Santa Catarina Island's east coast, 20Km from Florianópolis downtown. It is 650 meters long and it is between 5 and 50 meters wide.

It offers excellent touristic infrastructure, since the establishment of a great enterprise in the place. It has bars, restaurants, varied commerce and offers residences for the summer. Brava beach belongs to Cachoeira do Bom Jesus District and is 37km from downtown Florianópolis. It is 920 meters long and its width varies from 10 to 150 meters.

Praia da Cachoeira do Bom Jesus, Cachoeira do Bom Jesus - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

A beach with clear waters, fine white sand and mild waves. It has both, open sea and bay characteristics, since it is positioned on the Santa Catarina Island bay's north entrance.

It borders Ponta das Canas and stretches to the southwest until the mouth of the Rio do Braz. Currently, it is considered one of the great tourist centers of Santa Catarina, preferred by the Argentinean and Uruguayan tourists, just like Ponta das Canas and Canasvieiras.

This beach has calm waters, weak waves and its sands are bright yellow with clean sea floor. Two small streams cross it, coming from Morro do Cacupé.

It is a quite shaded beach and its outline presents soft curves. This beach is actually a group of small bays, with few spaces of sand and a lot of shrubs. It is difficult to access by terrestrial transport, easier reached by boat or on foot.

Canto da Lagoa beach is one of the most traditional places of Lagoa da Conceição district. It begins at the end of Praia do Baixio and it finishes at Ponta do Badejo. Traditionally it is an area of native inhabitants that are dedicated to fishing and agriculture. Domestic tourism has been promoted, bringing a good traffic to its marinas.

Praia da Daniela, Daniela - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach is very popular because of its calm and warm waters, almost like a swimming pool. It is located on the north side of the island, between Praia do Forte and Sambaqui.

Daniela beach is a beautiful and calm location, far from the big tourist centers, and a lot of people go there to run away from the urban stress. The neighborhood is well planned with the family/weekend homes in mind, no big buildings or big developments.

This beach has white sands, gentle, clean and warm waters. It is a short beach and Ponta Grossa, on the north end, separates it from Jurerê Internacional beach.

Its denomination has origin in the Forte de São José da Ponta Grossa that was built above it. At the present time it is used for sightseeing activities, being part of Jurerê Internacional Touristic Complex. There are several small bars/restaurants on this beach.

Galheta beach is a permanent preservation area. It is an open ocean beach, with clear waters and fine white sand.

It is formed by a small, but deep bay and it causes the waves to get to the shore softened and calm. Exhibiting exuberant vegetation and drawing the whole contour of the beach, Morro da Galheta is displayed, still turning the scenery into a more homelike one. This beach is reserved for the practice of the naturalism, but there are native inhabitants that are dedicated to fishing.

This beach is one of the most famous beaches in Santa Catarina. It stretches for nearly 5km between Ponta dos Ingleses and Ponta da Feiticeira.

Praia Jurerê Internacional, Jurerê - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This is a long beach of intermediate sea, having small and calm waves, clear sands and limpid waters of medium salinity, located between Ponta de Canajurê and Ponta Grossa.

Jurerê touristic complex hosts clubs, hotels, restaurants and undergoing a great urban development, to the extent of becoming an internationally renowned touristic center.

Praia da Lagoa do Peri, Armação - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach belongs to Parque Municipal da Lagoa do Peri, proclaimed in 1986. Peri Lagoon is one of the most important natural preserves on Santa Catarina Island.

The beach has a wide strip of white and clean sands and fresh and calm water, it descends in a moderate decline with aquatic vegetation in its margins. The vegetation is exuberant, providing an excellent shade. The beach and the lagoon are good for fishing (it is rich with fresh water fish), nautical sports, recreation and ecological studies. Praia da Armação is on the other side of the highway, forming a tourist complex of excellent quality.

Lagoa do Peri Park Beach belongs to Pântano do Sul District and it is located in the south of the island, 24km from Florianópolis downtown. It is around 500 meters long and 2 to 50 meters wide.

Praia da Lagoinha do Leste, Pântano do Sul - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

A secluded beach with white sands and median waves, accessed by boat or on foot by two trails -- a steep one from Pântano do Sul and a long one from Praia do Matadeiro.

It has always been visited by fishermen, but now it attracts many young people and those who practice adventure tourism. Its exuberant contours and the contrasts of the nature comprised by the ocean, the creek/lagoon and the green of the hills that surround it, never disappoints the visitors who manage to get there.

Lagoinha do Leste Beach belongs to Pântano do Sul District, 26km from downtown Florianópolis (the trailhead at SC-406). The beach is 600 meters long and its width varies from 10 to 150 meters.

Praia da Lagoinha do Norte, Cachoeira do Bom Jesus - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach has fine sand and calm and warm waters, but the waves can pick up if the wind is from north.

It is a relaxed, scarcely populated neighborhood during the low season, but in the high season it bustles with the activity as many tourist flock there looking for some seclusion and tranquility. There is a small lagoon at the east end of the beach, where the local fishermen keep boats safe during the stormy weather.

Lagoinha do Norte beach belongs to Cachoeira do Bom Jesus District and is 34km from downtown Florianópolis. It is 760 meters long and its width varies from 8 to 60 meters.

Praia do Matadeiro, Armação - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach has strong waves and cold waters, sought after by experienced surfers. It has bars and restaurants and it's hugged by a hill called Morro do Matadeiro.

Matadeiro Beach is separated from Armação Beach by a small river; you can cross it on foot or over a small bridge, than just a short trail over the hill. The name comes from the old times, when they hunted whales in that area by herding them with small boats and trapping them on Matadeiro Beach.

Praia do Matadeiro belongs to Pântano do Sul District and it is 24.3km from downtown Florianópolis.

Praia do Moçambique, Rio Vermelho - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

An open ocean beach with strong waves, white sands and waters with strong salinity. It is integrated with Parque Florestal do Rio Vermelho.

Being a reserve it is an isolated beach and not much frequented. The services inside of the Park are open to the public for use and visitation. Mozambique Beach is the longest beach on Santa Catarina Island and in the State of Santa Catarina.

Praia do Moçambique belongs to São João do Rio Vermelho District, 22.5km from Florianópolis downtown going through Lagoa da Conceição, or 41km through Ingleses. It is 7,500 meters long and its width varies from 8 to 50 meters.

Praia Mole, Lagoa da Conceição - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach is open to the Atlantic Ocean, with strong and long waves, crystalline and clear waters and fine sand. Strong rip-tides are common, so caution is recommended for swimmers.

This is an open ocean beach with big, strong waves and rip currents, especially at the south end where it turns from sand to a long, large rock formation.

Often, huge waves break on the rocks and boulders, providing a show of force and beauty. This point is considered dangerous for swimming or bathing, but very popular among surfers.

Praia do Morro das Pedras belongs to Campeche District, 22km from Florianópolis downtown. It is 2,450 meters long and its width varies from 5 to 45 meters.

Praia dos Naufragados, Ribeirão da Ilha - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach is at the far south end of the island. It faces the open ocean, has white, fine sand and strong waves -- especially when the wind is from south.

It forms a curved bay opened to the ocean, with Ilhas Três Irmãs and Ilha dos Moleques do Sul to its left, revealing charming scenery. There are two restaurants serving freshly caught fish and a short trail, close to Ponta dos Naufragados, that leads to the lighthouse (1861) and a set of cannons. Ilha de Araçatuba is placed in the entrance of the bay and hosts Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Barra Fortress (1765).

This beach is accessible only by boat or by a trail (2.6km) that starts in Caieira da Barra do Sul, at the end of Baldicero Filomeno Road, 40km from downtown Florianópolis. It is 1,450 meters long and its width varies from15 to 100 meters.

Praia Pântano do Sul, Pântano do Sul - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This a south facing beach, with fine sand, cold waters and strong waves when the wind is from south. The neighborhood is a traditional fishing village.

There are many seafood restaurants and bars serving food and drinks right on the sand. The beach is long and wide, excellent for long walks. The turquoise ocean is relatively calm, very good for kids, and the water is very clean.

Praia Pântano do Sul is located on the south end of the island, 26.7km from downtown Florianópolis.

This is a calm, bay facing beach with clear, calm waters and fine sand. It is protected from the open ocean by Ponta da Lagoa on the north end.

This beautiful beach faces an open ocean and its waves are big and long, thus having a lot of rip currents. Its sand is white, fine and clean.

Santinho Beach stretches from Ponta das Aranhas/Calhau Miúdo stone on the south end, to Morro dos Ingleses to the north, where it's linked to Praia dos Ingleses by large dunes, offering beautiful vistas. The area contains the largest reserve of rupestral inscriptions of the Southern Brazil and an Outdoor Archaeological Museum is being organized there. A largest tourist resort on the island, Costão do Santinho Resort, is located on the south end of the beach and offers full tourism infrastructure.

Praia de Santo Antônio, Santo Antônio de Lisboa - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This beach is positioned in the North Bay, with calm sea and yellowish sand. While beaches aren't its best feature, this area is better known for its 'Gastronomic Route'.

Santo Antônio de Lisboa is one of the oldest communities of Santa Catarina Island and therefore a strong center of Azorean culture. Some historical and centennial constructions are present and together with the local typical cuisine and the countless artisans that work there consecrated the area as an important place of historical tourism and leisure.

Praia do Saquinho, Pântano do Sul - Florianópolis, Santa Catarina

This is a small, secluded beach in a cove accessed only by trail. It has fine, white sand, as well as large rock formations and clear, agitated waters.

The access is done by a paved trail (1.5km) that starts at the south end of Solidão Beach and leads over Ponta das Pacas. There is a small river and a very small fishing community of a few houses without electricity or running water. There is no touristic infrastructure.

Praia do Saquinho belongs to Pântano do Sul district and is 32km from downtown Florianópolis.

The beach has fine, white sand and clear, cold waters with good waves for surfing, but it is also very good for fishing and diving.

Located in the south of the island, it is a very charming beach, with near by mountains and the rain forest, located on a preservation area. Children like the Pacas River swimming, which makes a natural lake of warm water right on the beach. It is close to a hiking trail that leads to a small waterfall and to a trail that leads over Ponta das Pacas to Saquinho Beach.

Praia da Solidão belongs to Pântano do Sul district and is 30km from downtown Florianópolis.
