Campeche Beach starts after Praia do Morro das Pedras and extends until the North end of Lagoinha Pequena. It is a beach of rough sea, strong and wild waves from the open ocean. It is considered dangerous, and has as a barrier for its strong waves an island also denominated Campeche.
Its waters are cold, with high salinity, it sands are fine and white. It has dunes in some spaces, which dam small streams, contributing to the formation of four small ponds. The beach is a touristic center of high importance, sheltering a traditional community which is very involved with the folklore, habits and the tradition of the islander people.
Campeche Beach belongs to the District of same name, 29km far from Florianópolis downtown. It is 3.800 meters long and its width varies from 5 to 150 meters.
