Armação Beach borders on Ponta da Companha and the South of Morro das Pedras point. It has white, fine sand and cold and limpid waters. In some parts the waves are calm and in another parts (to the north) they are rough, favorable for the practice of the surf.
This beach hosted the Companhia de Pesca da Baleia da Armação do Pântano do Sul (Armação do Pântano do Sul Whale Fishing Company) in the XVIII century. The capture and exploitation of the whales lasted up to 1910.
Armação Beach constitutes together with Campeche Beach and Armação do Pântano do Sul Beach the largest fishing complex of Santa Catarina Island. Currently Armação Beach is one of the most disputed places of the Island, providing good touristic infrastructure.
Praia da Armação Beach belongs to Pântano do Sul District and it is 24km far from Florianópolis downtown. It is 3.200 meters long and its width varies from 2 to 50 meters.
